The Van Buren has announced another big act to help open and inaugurate the new venue. Death Cab for Cutie will be performing at The Van Buren on September 8, 2017.
Death Cab for Cutie, though not actively touring right now, is performing at a number of festival shows over the summer with lead singer Ben Gibbard also performing a number of solo performances, many of which are sold out. Death Cab for Cutie’s most recent album, Kintsugi, was released in 2015. Kintsugi is the band’s 8th studio album and reached #1 on both the Billboard Alternative Album Chart and Billboard Rock Album Chart shortly after its release.
The Van Buren is located in the old Phoenix Motor Company building at the corner of Van Buren and 4th Avenue in downtown Phoenix. It is the newest and largest venue to be operated by Charlie Levy, who also runs Crescent Ballroom, Valley Bar, and the innovative one-night/multiple-venue festival Viva Phx. Levy also operates concert producer/promoter Stateside Presents.
The Van Buren will accommodate 1,800 concert goers. That makes it larger than the Crescent Ballroom which holds 500 and Valley Bar which holds about 250 for concerts. The Van Buren is located at 401 W. Van Buren St. in Phoenix. More information about upcoming shows and tickets can be found on their website here.
