Deftones and Rist Against brought their hard hitting concert to Ak-Chin Pavilion on Phoenix on July 9, 2017. The concert closed out their summer 2017 Live Nation produced co-headlining tour.
Rise Against were touring in support of their very recently released album Wolves, their 8th studio album, which the band dropped on June 9, 2017. While tracks from Wolves were appropriately covered, Rise Against still managed to drop a whole bunch of classics and hits from across their catalogue into the set list.
Deftones weren’t really touring in support of an album. Their most recent album Gore, their 8th studio album, was released over a year ago. That, however, freed them up to broadly play excerpts from their entire history, and much of their earlier material, instead of having to focus on songs from a recently released album. Both Deftones and Rise against are tremendous live bands. They bring the energy to every show and have high expectations that the audience will return it right back. Both the bands, and the audience, delivered. Both bands’ brought good old-fashioned, in your face, hard-hitting rock, which is exactly what their audience came to hear.
