While new concert venue The Van Buren was receiving lots of publicity for its opening last month, another new concert venue opened in North Phoenix/Scottsdale with very little publicity or fanfare –undeservedly so. BLK Live opened near the Scottsdale Quarter in the Scottsdale Airpark area on August 25th with a performance by ‘80s hitmakers Berlin.
BLK Live is taking a bit of a different approach than other concert venues in the Phoenix area. BLK has combined the music venue with a high-end restaurant with 3 separate and distinct areas: a 250 seat restaurant, a 400 person indoor stage and dance floor, and an outdoor stage with space for 1,000 next to a large pool.
The company also operates
- BLK Earth Sea Spirits, a high end (think Kobe Steaks and single malt scotch), Gallagher’s Pub & Grill, 2nd Floor, and Thunder Burgrz & Pizza restaurants, all in Huntington Beach, CA
- BLK Burgerz and Casa Ranchers, a Mexican food concept, both in Ladera Ranch, CA.
BLK Live is their first restaurant outside of California and the first to feature live music as an integral component of the concept. Unlike most venues, food will be at the forefront at BLK Live and not an afterthought. And with shows generally starting 7:45 – 8:00 PM, there’s plenty of time to sit down for a good meal before heading over to the concert side of the venue. Their dinner menu features the BLK Burger, Beef Shortribs, Cornish Game Hen, American Wagyu Filet, Salmon and a vegan Ratatouille. They also feature an extensive happy hour and dessert menus.
While the venue has multiple musical genres booked, its current calendar is loaded-up with classic ‘80s and rock and metal bands like Slaughter, Warrant, and Winger.
BLK Live is located at 7301 E Butherus Dr, Scottsdale, AZ 85260 and its website is www.blkliveaz.com.
