We all know that one voice in our favorite band that just stands out and whenever you or your friends hear it, you know exactly who it is. For my that is Jon Anderson of YES. Jon has a unique voice that transcends the music and raises it to a new high.
I have seen Jon in many different performances with YES, ARW and Jean Luc Ponty over the past 40 years. Each time I am amazed at his vocal range and presence. This year Jon has embarked on a world wide tour called 1000 Hands as a solo act. From this tour’s past setlists, it looks like he is playing a number of my favorite YES hits including, “Roundabout”, “Yours Is No Disgrace”, “Sweet Dreams” and my personal favorite, “Owner of a Lonely Heart”. He is also performing a number of songs from his latest album, 1000 Hands, including “Ramalama”, “Makes Me Happy” and the title track, “1000 Hands”.
If you are a fan of YES, then this is definitely a show to see. It will be at the Van Buren in downtown Phoenix. I have been to a number of shows there and it is a very nice venue. Please come out for a great evening of outstanding music done by one of YES’s original founders and their quintessential singer and front man, Jon Anderson. Personally, I hope to see you there.
