Tour:  I Love Everything

From Cereal to contractors and finally Denny’s, Patton Oswalt took us down his road of strange and wonderful stories and jokes.  Patton is an acclaimed actor, comedian and voice over.  Starring as Spencer Olchin in the sitcom King of Queens, the Koenig clones on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and my personal favorite Happy the blue unicorn in Syfy’s Happy!.  I will not reprise the show, that is for you to see and enjoy.  I will give you an idea of topics that he covered.  From the reaction of the audience, we all had a great time and laughed a lot.

Patton came out firing and talked about how his cereal has changed now that he is 50.  When he was younger, in teens and twenty his cereal was sugary and colorful.  But now in his 50s his cereal has changed to bland and colorless.  He also talked about buying a new house and of course it needed things fix/changed.  So, he got a contractor and the sub-contractors that actually did the work.  The funniest part was “Kerby” and the wallpaper subcontractor.  Having been through the remodeling myself, I could totally understand and so did the crowd and we all were laughing constantly.

The last part of his show was about Denny’s restaurant.  The way he talked about the “Grand Slams” (Denny’s mascots) will never make me see them the same way again.  We were all laughing so hard, that we actually got Patton laughing along with us.

Tonight’s show only used ½ of the venue and the stage did not rotate.  However, Patton was constantly roaming around the stage and actually picked out audience members on both sides of the stage to talk directly to.  It was nice because it did add a personal touch to his performance.

Drawing for closer seats benefitting St. Mary’s Food Band at Patton Oswalt show at Celebrity Theatre, Phoenix, Arizona on January 25th, 2020

Prior to the show, Danny Zelsiko Presents (DZP) and Celebrity Theatre held a drawing for seat upgrades with the donations benefiting St Mary’s Food Bank.  They do this for almost all of the DZP shows at Celebrity Theatre, so you might want to give a small donation to this wonderful organization and possibly winning better seats.

George Kanter

George Kanter, local Phoenix comedian warming up crowd at Celebrity Theatre, Phoenix, Arizona prior to Patton Oswalt on January 25th, 2020

Local Phoenix comedian George Kanter was the warmup act for Patton Oswalt.  He was very good and had a number of good jokes and stories.  One of my favorites was he just bought a house and no longer had room mates.  He also talked about Walmart and shopping there.  If you get a chance to see George, he has a good show and you will laugh a lot.
