I remember growing up and listening to David Bowie and the Ziggy Stardust album.  The one thing I remember best about David Bowie was how he changed with the music style of the times.  I was lucky enough to see David once in concert.  It was a mind-blowing performance as he changed outfits depending upon the song he was performing.  In later years David stopped touring and did a long-term residency in New York City.  Unfortunately, we lost this great performer in 2016.

However, a group of musicians including some that worked with David have continued his legacy by putting on the Celebrating David Bowie concert tour.  The touring members we saw here in Phoenix was guitarist Scrote and Brett Hool, bass player Carmine Rojas, keyboardist & saxophonist Ron Dziubla and drummer Matt Hankle.  Doing the singing duties were Jesse Hughes, Angelo Moore, Alex Greenwald, Scrote, and Brett Hool.  The singers would change for each song.  Probably the most dynamic singer was Angelo with all his different costumes.

The concert consisted of 2 sets and an encore.  Each set was a mixture of deep cuts and hits.

The show started with Angelo coming out and singing “Rebel, Rebel”.  It was really hard to pick out a song or two from the first set as the best or my favorites.  But Alex’s version of “Starman” and Angelo’s “Ziggy Stardust” were outstanding.  Angelo ended the first set with the monster hit “Suffragette City”.

After a short intermission, they came back out with Ron Dziubla doing a saxophone solo that then moved into Brett singing “Space Oddity”.  Again, it was hard to pick out songs as favorites, but “Changes” and “Fame” were awesome.  The second set ended with Jesse performing “All The Young Dudes”.  The final song was “Heroes” where everyone was on stage and all 5 singers took part in the singing.

The Encore consisted of 3 songs.  Angelo started off with “Blue Jean”.  Alex then sang “Modern Love”.  They ended the concert with Jesse performing “Let’s Dance”.

They received multiple standing ovations.  Also, the audience sang along with the songs and really came alive with the choruses on some of the songs.  From the reactions of the audience, they seem to really enjoy the performance.  Personally, I loved it.

For almost 2.5 hours we got to hear David Bowie’s incredible music.  From hits to some deep cuts, you got the very best songs David created.  This was the second time I got to see this marvelous show.  Depending on the city you see them in, some different artists might join the line up.  But whoever shows up, you are going to get a sensational show.  If you loved David Bowie’s music then I very highly recommend seeing this tour.  You will love it.
