Tour: Supercharged
Well, it’s the second night at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre. Luckily no storm interfered with tonight’s performance. But due to last night’s storm, it was a hot and muggy summer night in Phoenix, AZ. Tonight, we got a trio of 90s rock bands include one from here in the valley (actually Mesa, Arizona).

The show started with New Found Glory. I remember my daughter listening to them in the late 90s. I enjoyed their music since they were a real band and played their own instruments (not a Boy Band of singers and dancers). Since they were the opening act, they only got about 30 minutes and 8 songs. Dan O’Connor from Four Year Strong on lead guitar and Dave Knox of Real Friends on rhythm guitar joined New Found Glory on this tour.

Jimmy Eat World is a local valley band from Mesa, Arizona. They have a huge fan base and they were very loud tonight as the band played. Many of the songs were sung by the audience. There were even a lot of people (mostly ladies) dancing to the songs. Jimmy Eat World got about 45 minutes and performed 12 songs.
They ended their set with two of the audience’s favorites, “Sweetness” and “The Middle”. But for me, I enjoyed “Bleed American”. It was a solid set with most all of their best songs. Most of the songs were from their 2 albums, Futures and Bleed American.

After following Jimmy Eat World, The Offspring had a lot to live up to. But they did it. Their performance was outstanding. Preforming a 16 song and 2 song encore, which wowed their fans. Their stage had a huge video screen behind the band that played different videos but mostly images of the band on stage. Their light show was also impressive.
They started the show with 3 high energy songs, “Come Out and Play”, “All I Want” and “Want You Bad”. The crowd loved it when they did a tribute to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne and performed “Paranoid / Crazy Train”. I remember hearing Weird Al performing “Pretty Fly for a Rabbi”. It was a parity of The Offspring’s “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)”. I loved it when they performed it. Also, the last song of the main set seemed to be a take-off of The Who’s “The Kids Are Alright”.
I was surprised to see that a few fans crowd surfed for both Jimmy Eat World and The Offspring. Usually, I only see this at metal shows.
If you love 90s rock music, then this is a tour you really want to see. All three bands are amazing. I have included links to their social media pages where you can find more information about each band and also where they will be touring next. Hopefully they will be at a city near you.
