Tour: Cavalera’s Chaos A.D. Tour

Every time Max Cavalera performs here in the Phoenix area, he sets up a full day concert event.  The show typically starts around 3:30PM and goes until after 10PM.  The really nice thing is he brings in a lot of local Arizona bands to give them an opportunity to perform at a major concert.  Hopefully this gets these band some decent exposure and helps them get some real live experience.  Tonight was no different.  There were 6 Arizona bands.

This review is to cover these 7 bands.  Another review covers the two headliners, Cavalera and Fear Factory.  Most of these band’s style is some form of metal. It ranges from Metalcore to Dealt Metal.  Also touring with Max is a band from Washington D.C., Genocide Pact that was not covered in the other review.

The only big issue is that each of these local bands only get a short period of time to perform.  Tonight, they each got about 20 minutes.

Ocean Harvest at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

First band of the day was Ocean Harvest.  “Ocean Harvest is an all-Native American metalcore band from Phoenix, Arizona, formed in 2013/2014. The band features members from the Gila River and Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Communities and its lineup includes Winston Jose (vocals), Elias Jose (guitar), Blaine Peters (drums), and Ruben Dawahoya (bass). They are known for their heavy, energetic sound and lyrics that often explore themes of human experience and Native American issues.” (note: from their website).  I have seen them a few time (they play at the 44 Sports Grill) and find their music a little too heavy for me.  They seem to have a very strong following especially in the Native American community.  They did announce that they would be going to Japan, and if you want to help them out, please purchase some of their merch.  Touring is expensive, so if you like this band, please help them out.

Six Million Dead at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

Next came Six Million Dead that is a Blackened Death Metal from the Indigenous tribes of Southern Arizona.  Again, I am not a real fan of Death Metal and find most of the songs all sound alike.  Personally, I was not impressed by the band, but some people in the audience did really like them.

Vindicate at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

Next was Vindicate is an Arizona-based alternative rock band.  They are an in your face, don’t give a damn hard rock band.  I thought they gave a very strong performance and I did like some of their songs.

The Agoreez at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

Ok, we then got to one of my two standout performances.  The Agoreez are a straight up Hard Rock band.  They were probably one of the more mellow bands tonight.  I thought that they could have really shown how great they are if they could have done more then their allowed 4 songs.  I personally can’t wait to see them again and hopefully they will get a longer set time.  I would highly recommend seeing this band.  They perform at different venues around the valley.  I hope to see you at one of their future shows.

Gnumb at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

Next was the hardcore metal band, Gnumb.  If you wanted to see a very high energy band, then Gnumb is the one to see.  Their lead singer was impossible to photograph because he was constantly bouncing around on the stage.  I did like a couple of their songs.

Morning Star at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

The final Arizona based bands was Morning Star.  This was the second of my standout bands.  I had a hard time trying to define their style other then Metal.  Per their website,” Mixing thoughtful melodic hooks and heartrending choruses, to groove riffs with driving beats, to brutal heavy and fast riffs reminiscent of 80’s and 90’s thrash, Mourning Star is not limited to any one style and is able to be extremely creative due to not being locked into any one genre. Our goal is to create songs that get stuck in your head, deep with emotions and filled with power, this is our goal and our sound.”  Personally, I really enjoyed their performance.  Hopefully I will get to see them again to get an even better feel for their style.  I can recommend seeing them.

Genocide Pact at the Marquee Theatre on October 11th, 2025

Last up was a Washington D.C. band, Genocide Pact.  The are a Death Metal band.  Again, I am not a huge fan of Death Metal, so they just sounded like some of the other bands tonight.  The other issue I had was they were completely bathed in Red Lights which is horrible light to photograph.

If I can make a suggestion to all of these opening acts.  Please use frontal lighting of non-Red lights.  Preferably white light.  This way we the photographers can get some great photographs of you that you could use to help promote your band on social media.
