Eihwar’s Nordic Ritual Nights concert at the Marquee Theatre on September 7th, 2026

I felt like I had been transported to the Burning Man event. Eihwar is a 2-person group that gave a performance that is more of a tribal folk event. They style is a “Viking War Trance” event. It’s a mixture of tribal percussion, dancing and chanting. It reminded me a lot of the old movies on TV that had people dancing around a fire and chanting with drums in the background. They do sing a couple of songs, but most of the time it was more of a tribal chant. The amount of energy they pushed out to the audience was amazing. Asrunn danced, provided vocals and did an amazing drum routine while dancing all around on the stage. How she was able to keep up the dancing was amazing. Her energy level brought the audience to cheers and applause. Her partners, Mark was the man at the percussion synthesizer system. He provided the rhythm that drove her dancing. For a couple of songs, he came out and played the acoustic guitar for Asrunn’s singing.

Eihwar’s show is part music and part theatrical. In all it was a spectacular event that I am very happy I got to see. Will I go again to she them, HELL YES. I loved their energy and the way Asrunn got the audience to get into their music. They even had people dancing in the audience. If you get a chance to see them, I very highly recommend it. This is definitely not a show you sit for. You will want to stand and absorb the energy.

Borne Of Ash concert at the Marquee Theatre on September 7th, 2026

The night started with a local Phenix area band, Borne Of Ash. I have seen them a couple of times and know a few members of the band. Their sound is more of a Doom Metal style. But tonight, they seemed to fit in well with the overall theme of the night, Folk Metal and Tribal music. They are a very good band and well worth seeing. You can check them out as leadup bands for concerts around the valley.

Frayle concert at the Marquee Theatre on September 7th, 2026

The middle band was Frayle. At first, I thought they were a Scandinavian band. I got the change to talk with both Gwyn Strang the lead singer and bass player Lucy. I learned that they were from Cleveland, Ohio. They also are a Doom Metal band. But like the first Black Sabbath album, they have an overtone of witchy sound. I really loved Gwyn’s voice. She was both powerful and haunting. The one thing you see with this band is their outfits. Both of the ladies were in long black dresses with chain masks covering their faces. The men (drummer and guitarist) were also dressed in black and had full face masks.

I really like their sound. So much so, that I bought one of their CD Skin & Sorrow before I left. I can wait for them to come back to the valley so I can see them again. They are very good and well worth seeing if you like music that reminds me of the original Black Sabbath album.
