Tour: An All – Star Celebration of Grateful Dead & Allman Brothers
With the passing of Gerry Garcia and Bobby Weir, The Grateful Dead for the most part is no more. Same with the Allman Brothers with the passing of Gregg Allman and Dicky Betts, The Allman Brothers no longer tour. So, if you want to hear either of these bands’ music live, then you need to see a tribute band that cover their songs.
This is where Live Dead and Brothers comes in. They are a 5-member band that play a combination of Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers music. The current members of Live Dead and Brothers is Berry Duane Oakley, Les Dudek, Mark Karan, Scott Guberman, Pete Lavezzoli.
They performed a combination of the band’s hits. For the Grateful Dead, they played “Friend Of The Devil” and “Truckin’”. For the Allman Brothers they performed “Midnight Rider”, ”Jessica”, “Stateboro Blues” and “Dreams”. The other songs by these bands were deep cuts by theose bands. They also added a couple of songs from other artists. I especially like when they performed Procol Harum’s “A Whiter Shade of Pale” as their encore. They did a very good rendition of it.
Personally, I was disappointed they didn’t perform “St. Steven” or “Mexicali Blues”. These are 2 of my favorite Grateful Dead songs. But it was still an amazing show. If you wean to hear some Grateful Dead or Allman Brothers songs performed by some great musicians, then I can recommend you see Live Dead and Brothers.
