On Tuesday night, September 30th, The Head and the Heart returned to Phoenix with a performance at the Arizona Financial Theatre that was both intimate and electric. With a career-spanning setlist and a crowd that knew every word, the band delivered a show that reminded fans why their music resonates so deeply.
They kicked off the night with All We Ever Knew, an opener that immediately set the tone. The entire theater was on its feet, clapping and singing along as the band’s trademark harmonies filled the room. As the set unfolded, highlights stacked up quickly. One of my personal favorites, Let’s Be Still, turned the theater into a moment of calm reflection, with the crowd swaying and hanging on every lyric. One of the most special moments came when Charity Rose Thielen took the spotlight. The audience lit up during her solo sections, her voice cutting through the room with a mix of tenderness and strength. It’s clear how much fans treasure those moments — the energy shifted, and the applause for her was some of the loudest of the night. Later, Lost in My Mind became a celebration, with special guests Tyler Ballgame and John Vincent III joining on stage — their presence turning the fan-favorite into a communal singalong that felt bigger than the room itself.
The momentum carried through with Honeybee, which had the audience dancing and shouting every line. But the night wasn’t without its drama: Gone was briefly interrupted due to a medical emergency in the pit. The band handled the moment with empathy and care, pausing the show until it was safe to continue, further underscoring the sense of community present throughout the night.
After powering through the classic Down in the Valley, the band left the stage briefly before returning for a powerful encore. Every Shade of Blue and Arrow set the stage, but it was the closer, Rivers and Roads, that stole the night. From the first strum, the crowd erupted, and by the final chorus, thousands of voices joined together, belting out the band’s most iconic song. It was raw, emotional, and easily the best moment of the night.
