The Cold War Kids are set to open the newest mid-size live music venue in the Phoenix area on area on August 23The Van Buren is the newest and largest venue to be operated by Charles Levy, who also runs Crescent Ballroom, Valley Bar and the innovative one-night/multiple-venue festival Viva Phx.  Levy also runs concert producer/promoter Stateside Presents.  With the opening of the Van Buren, Levy will have opened 3 live music nightspots in downtown Phoenix in a span of fewer than 6 years.

Work on the Van Buren continues both inside and out.

The Van Buren is located in the old Phoenix Motor Company building at the corner of Van Buren and 4th Avenue in downtown Phoenix.  It’s within walking distance of both Crescent Ballroom and Valley Bar.  It’s also fairly close to Comerica Theatre, Orpheum Theatre, Last Exit Live and the Monarch Theatre, which establishes the area as thriving downtown live music district.  Along with the ASU downtown campus and the many new apartment complexes in the area, The Van Buren also reinforces the remarkable resurgence of downtown Phoenix as a livable, walkable urban hub.

The Van Buren will accommodate 1,800 concert goers.  That makes it larger than the Crescent Ballroom which holds 500 and Valley Bar which holds about 250 for concerts.  It also puts it on par with the Marquee Theatre in Tempe.

The Van Buren is located at 401 W. Van Buren St. in Phoenix,.  More information about upcoming shows and tickets can be found on their website here.
