The Rhythm Room is a small bar in Phoenix that specializes in unique concerts. Danny Zelisko has promoted a number of bands here that draw only about 100 people. Danny has a number of other shows that he will present here later this year. This venue is extremely intimate in that the audience is seated at tables right up to the stage. It is also nice because the band usually comes out after the show to meet the fans and sign items purchased at the merchandise table. As an extra treat for this show, Danny purchased cheeseburgers for everyone in the audience during the show. You will see Danny and a few friends passing out the cheeseburgers in the photos at the end of the review.
I really enjoy concerts at this venue. It reminds me of the 70s when Danny first started promoting shows in Tempe at a bar called Dooley’s. I love the interaction between the band and the audience. I also like that the fans get the chance to meet the band following the show.
TU-NER
TU-NER is a trio of musicians that have performed with numerous bands including King Crimson, Stick Men, Gunn & Mastelotto. At tonight’s show, TU-NER consisted of Markus Reuter (Slide guitarist), Pat Mastelotto (drummer) and Trey Gunn (guitarist).
TU-NER performed their original music, improvs and honor as well their King Crimson/ProjeKcts DNA, as well as also bring to the stage some of the material produced by TU and TUNER during the past two decades. The music of those projects is known for being innovative yet accessible in nature, drawing on elements of rock, jazz, prog, funk, and other genres.
This was an instrumental concert only, no singing. It showcased the amazing talent of each member. If you are into progressive rock/jazz then this is definitely a concert to see.
