Saturday was day 2 of the Innings Festival. Again, it was a very nice day with temperatures in the mid-80s and sunny. The only issue that we had was the dust and dead grass from the park. But it beat the rain or cold weather that the rest of the country was getting.

Again, today was Rock & Indie music with the main headliners being Boys II Men and The Killers. Unfortunately, I was allowed to photograph either The Killers or Boys II Men. They had their own photographer that took all of the photos.

I have seen two of the bands that performed today. I first saw Good Boy Daisy at Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding when they won the Group Proof in the Pudding. I saw Jack’s Mannequin at one of the previous Innings Festivals. I enjoyed all of the bands I saw today. But Beck was the real surprise for me. I was not a big Beck fan prior to this show, but his performance won me over.

Again, there were 9 bands today with Anna Graves starting off at Home Plate. They alternated the bands between the Right Field stage and Home Plate stage. This allowed them to tear down and then setup for the next band. The event ended the night with Boys II Men at the Right Field stage and The Killers at Home Plate stage.

The initial acts got about 45 for their set, then 1 hour for middle bands and finally 90 minutes for the two main acts, Boys II Men and The Killers. At first look I was confused when I saw a band called The Kills as one of the Right Field bands. Finally, I realized they were completely different from The Killers.

Overall, it was a good day. Good Boy Daisy had a little problem with the sound system, but eventually they got it fixed. The other bands didn’t seem to have any issues. The Kills were a little strange in that they only consisted of two people, a male guitarist and female guitarist that sang. They used a lot of back tracks to provide percussion and bass.

Good Boy Daisy and Jack’s Mannequin are local Phoenix bands and if you get to see them, I highly recommend it.

Everyone seemed to have a good time, but the crowd was a little smaller, about 2/3 of Friday’s crowd. If you get a chance to go to next years Innings Festival, I highly recommend it. It is a fun time and you get to see some amazing bands. Hopefully I will see you at next year’s event. Until then, I hope you get to see all of the bands you like.
