Tour: “Wish You Were Here” 50th Anniversary Tour

Unfortunately, we are never going to get to see Pink Floyd perform again.  The best we can hope for is to see either Roger Waters, David Gilmore or Nick Mason brings their show to town.  I was lucky enough to see the original Dark Side Of The Moon Tour and 1 of the nights of The Wall tour in LA.  Since then, I have seen Roger Waters a few times and I got to see Nick Mason once.

Today there are 3 very good tribute bands that tour performing Pink Floyd music.  A few weeks ago, I got to see and reviewed Floyd Nation.  Tonight, I got to finally see Brit Floyd.  I was looking forward to Brit Floyd’s show because they were going to perform the entire Wish You Were Here album and I have been told that their light shows was one of the best.

The show was broken up into 2 sets with a 25-minute intermission.  The first set was a combination of songs from the wide catalog of Pink Floyd.  The second set was the performance of Wish You Were Here album.  They then came back for a 3-song encore.  The show started at 7PM and went to 10:45PM.  In all you got to hear a lot of great Pink Floyd songs performed by some amazing musicians.  I would also like to recognize the 3 female singers.  They were fantastic, especially when the one lady sang “The Great Gig in the Sky”.

They started the show with 2 tracks from the A Momentary Lapse of Reason album, “Signs of Life” and “Learning to Fly”.  I was shocked that they didn’t play any songs prior to the Dark Side Of The Moon (DSOTM) album.  But overall, they did a good mix of songs from all of the albums since DSOTM.  I really liked that they did “The Dogs of War” and “Pigs” from Animals album.  Most tribute bands skip over that album.  I was surprised that they performed “Time” but omitted “Money”.

After the intermission they came out and performed the entire album, Wish You Were Here.  This was the album Roger wrote that talked about their long-time band mate, Syd Barrett and his breakdown and leaving the band prior to DSOTM.

After a short break they came back for their encore.  They started with the last 2 songs on the DSOTM album, “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse”.  They then ended the show with “Run Like Hell”.

If you want to see a really great Pink Floyd tribute show, then I highly recommend seeing Brit Floyd.  The light show alone is worth the price of the ticket.  It was almost as good as what I remember from the original Pink Floyd shows.

For those that missed this show, Brit Floyd will be coming to Phoenix on July 10th.

This was my first time to visit the Findlay Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, AZ.  It is a very nice arena.  I especially liked that the sound quality was good and I did not hear the echo effect that are common with most arenas.  If you get a chance to see a concert here, I would recommend it.
