Tour: Lovin’ Feelin’ Farewell Tour
It’s about time that the west valley gets a concert hall, Hilltop Theatre and Concert Hall that rivals the Musical Instrument Museum. Out by Luke Air Force base is a new high school dedicated to the arts. They have created a state-of-the-art music hall with amazing lighting and sound system. It holds about 750 people. All of the seats are great. I was position off to the stage right at the far end of the row and my seat was perfect. Because the rows are arranged in an upward slope, you can see over the people in front of you. If you get the chance to see a show there, I can highly recommend it.

This is the first show Danny Zelisko Presents has scheduled at this venue. And Danny picked the perfect performers for that opening, The Righteous Brothers with Bill Medley and Bucky Heard. It was nice to see a sold-out show for this first concert event. Granted the majority of the audience were on the older side, but you have to remember that The Righteous Brothers were big in the early 60s. The original Righteous Brothers were Bill Medley and Boddy Hatfield. Bobby died in 2003. In 2006 Bill Medley was offer a residency in Las Vegas. He asked Bucky Heard to join him and a new legend began. Bill and Bucky have now been performing together for the last 11 years.

Bill and Bucky are amazing singers whose voice blend perfectly together. They were backed up by a 6-piece band with an additional 2 female singers, one was his daughter McKenna Medley.
This show reminded me a lot of the shows I have seen in Las Vegas. It was a combination of singing and storytelling. At times they even reacted with the audience. Like when they requested to have the house light brought up and asked all of the veterans and active military people to please stand which was over 1/3 of the audience. They dedicated “Bridge Over Troubled Water / Lean On Me” to them and thanked them for their service.
From the setlist below, you can see that there were songs that each did on their own. Bill even had his daughter come out and sing with them. She also did 2 songs of her own. Probably the highlight for me was when they did “(You’re My) Soul and Inspiration”, “Young Blood” and the closing number, “You’ve Lost That Lovin Feelin’”. Bill joked about how he really didn’t like “Little Latin Lupe Lu” until he heard that Bruce Springsteen was singing it. It was interesting to hear Bucky sing in Italian.
Overall it was a very nice evening of music. If you liked The Righteous Brother’s music or just want to see a fun show, then I can recommend seeing this show. They are touring through November and then again starting in February. Check out their website to see if they are coming to a city and venue near you.
