For the last 35 plus years, John Petrucci has been the lead guitarist for one of the greatest progressive metal rock bands around, Dream Theater. Dream Theater was originally founded in 1985 by 3 Berklee College of Music students, John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy and John Myung. In 2011 Mike Portnoy left Dream Theater. Over the last decade, John and Mike have had an on and off again musical collaborations including the album Liquid Tension III.
John Petrucci has decided to do a small solo tour and invited Mike and bassist Dave Larue. This tour is in support of John’s solo album Terminal Velocity that features all three band members. Don’t expect to hear any Dream Theater songs. The songs on this tour are all from John’s two solo albums, Terminal Velocity and Suspended Animation.
John Petrucci is considered one of the premier metal guitarist. He has toured with Joe Satriani on a number of Joe’s G3 tours where Joe brings together 2 other amazing guitarists for an evening of outstanding guitar music. Mike Portnoy is also one of the best metal drummers and is performing in bands: Sons Of Apollo, The Winery Dogs, TransAtlantic and the Neil Morse Band. I have personally seen John Petrucci and Mike Portnoy many times and their performances are always topnotch.
