Sorry for the lateness of this review. It seems that there are consequences when you are an idiot and attempt to cross the moss pit to get a full stage photo. I did this at the end of the show during the last song by Rhapsody of Fire. The pit was almost empty, so I decided to get the photo. I got the shot, but when I attempted to move back to the sound board, I was body slammed and hit my head. At the time I was a little disoriented, but thought nothing about it. Later I was having issues concentrating and could not stand being in front of a computer screen and write. This lasted for over 2 weeks. I was at a Mastodon concert earlier in the month and I saw someone get slammed to the floor and they had to take him out to an ambulance. So, people, if you want to mosh, that is ok, but please watch how you hit others because we are all there to have a great time and not end up in the hospital.
Overall, the concert was fantastic. Each of the bands had their own following and you really saw this after Wind Rose finished their set, about 30% of the crowd left.
Rhapsody of Fire

Rhapsody of Fire is an Italian symphonic power metal band formed by Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli. Currently only Alexis still touring with the band. The following are the current members of Rhapsody of Fire: Alex Staropoli on keyboards, Giacomo Voli as front man and lead singer, Roby De Micheli on guitar, Paolo Marchesich on drums and bass player Alessandro Sala.
It was a shame that a lot of the crowd left prior to Rhapsody of Fire going on stage. It made it easier for me to move around in the crowd and photograph, but more people should really have stayed. Granted their style was different from Wind Rose and Seven Kingdoms, but personally I really enjoyed their music.
They opened their set with “I’ll Be Your Hero” which could have been a song that could have been used in one of the Lord of The Rings movies. During the next 1 hour plus show they performed 13 more songs including 3 songs for the encore.
Rhapsody of Fire will be attending a number of festivals in Europe in both July and August. Check out the website for which festivals they will attend and what days.

Wind Rose

Wind Rose is an Italian power metal band founded in 2009 in Pisa, Tuscany. They call themselves, “THE DWARVES OF HEAVY METAL”. They are known for their song; ”Diggy Diggy Hole”. When they ended their set and performed this song, the entire crowd was singing along and jumping along with the band. Seeing a wave of over a thousand people bouncing along with the band was entertaining.
The band is front by the massive lead singer Francesco Cavalieri, with guitarist Claudio Falconcini, Federico Meranda on keyboards, Cristiano Bertocchi on bass and drummer Federico Gatti.
As you can see from the set list, a lot of their song are all about Dwarves. Their entire show was extreme energy. Francesco was constantly roaming the stage and singing directly to the crowd. Since there was no crowd barrier, at time he was hanging over the people right at the stage.
If you get the chance to see them on their European tour, I highly recommend it. They put on a fantastic show and with being top billing, they will be able to perform more songs.

Seven Kingdoms

Seven Kingdoms are an American power metal band from DeLand, Florida. The band was formed in DeLand in 2007 by guitarist Camden Cruz. They call themselves; “100% Pure American Power Metal”. This is the second time I saw Seven Kingdoms. The first was when they toured with Unleash The Archers. Personally, I love the songs by Seven Kingdoms. Sabrina’s voice is strong but also pleasing to listen to. And Camden is a madman on stage, as he blisters away on the guitar.

Seven Kingdoms is currently made up of founding guitarist (with Einstein hair) Camden Cruz, lead singer Sabrina Valentine, drummer Keith Byrd and guitarist Kevin Byrd. It was interesting to see Sabrina hobbling around the stage with a crutch due to a bad foot.
Seven Kingdoms will be touring in North America during August and September. You can check out their upcoming tour dates on either their website or Facebook page.
Seven Kingdoms will be doing a special Live free concert on their Twitch TV channel on August 7th. They will be asking people to help them fund their European tour with Wind Rose. Remember, these small and lesser-known bands have a harder time getting backing from record companies and promoters and they have to foot the bill for their touring. If you want to help Seven Kingdoms, please watch their Twitch TV concert and donate.

Adavänt

I might have a little bias when I review Adavänt. I have been photographing them now for a few years and have become friends with the band. Adavänt is a local Phoenix area band that has a nice following. Their style of music is a Folk Heavy Metal. I wrote in my review of their CD release party earlier this year and I can’t write it any better so I will repeat it here.
“Still on lead vocals is the metal goddess Charlotte “The Alluring”. She is joined on lead vocals by the powerful and dynamic Nathan “The Ravenous”. Nathan use to play bass, but Corey “The Vigorous” has move over to bass. Justin “The Fierce” is on guitar, with the crazy Andy “The Cunning” as the energic keyboard player. Javad “The Fearless” always give me crap because I never get any good photos of him on drums, sorry Javad but the lighting on you is poor. In December 2019, just prior to the pandemic, they added Ryan “The Bardic” to the band. Ryan plays a number of folk instruments including different flutes and the lute. One of the best parts of this band is the diversity between the growling of Nathan and the sweat harmony of Charlotte.”
If you get a chance to see Adavänt, would recommend it. They will be doing a show at Pub Rock in Scottsdale on July 22nd. This event will be the CD release party for fellow local band, Shores of Ithaka.
