As I Lay Dying has been on an amazing summer tour that has traveled all over the United States. They also have brought on some amazing bands for support; Chelsea Grin and Entheos. As I lay Dying is a metalcore band that formed in 2000. The band is from sunny San Diego, California. The band’s current line up is formed by Tim Lambesis – lead vocals, Phil Sgrosso – guitar/backing vocals, Ken Susi – guitar/backing vocals, Ryan Neff – bass guitar/clean vocals and Nick Pierce – drums.
The band started their tour in beautiful Santa Cruz and moved to Sacramento the next day. Fans at the Sacramento show loved every minute of it, stating how cool the show was. A fan in Sacremento mentioned that the show was nostalgic and a lot of fun. The band brought a lot of energy to the stage while playing a good mix of old and new songs.
They recently released a couple new singles this year. Their last album was released in 2019 but they also released a single in 2021. Is this the start to a possible new album? Many fans would hope that an album is on the horizon. Their newest singles were released on July 9th: “The Cave We Fear to Enter” and ” Burden”, originally relased on On May 24th was added to this single. The songs started out strong with heavy beats and great guitar riffs. The screaming in the song was chef’s kiss, perfection. What is great about As I Lay Dying is they combine screaming with clean singing; giving you a smorgasbord of different vocal styles. “Burden” instantly melts your face off with blast beats right out of the gate.
When asking people about what they thought about As I Lay Dying’s newest singles, they had a lot of positive things to say. One fan mentioned that “The Cave We Fear to Enter” had an intro that really captured their attention and the bridge was riveting. “Burden” seems to be the fan favorite! Everyone loved every piece of the song from the blast beets, to a hook that really draws you in and the perfect outro that brings the song full full circle.
Do not fret! If you have not seen them on this leg of their tour there is still time! There are 6 dates left and they are ending this tour in their hometown of San Diego. I know many fans will be lining up for them at the Van Buren in Phoenix. Phoenix carries an amazing metal culture and the Van Buren is one of the best venues to watch your favorite metal bands!
